Baby Marlowe: A New Arrival in Jamaica Plain

Last week, I had the distinct pleasure of photographing the lovely Marlowe. She, and her family, are new to Jamaica Plain–just transplanted from Austin in time for her arrival. Our weather hasn’t been very kind to them during the transition, but Baby Marlowe didn’t seem to mind. She just snuggled right in, as sweet and cozy as you please. I was in love with the cute little dimples on the backs of her hands and the pretty little wrinkles in her feet. Ahhh, babies!

Mommy tells me that Marlowe is already a daddy’s girl. Check out the final image in the series, and I think it’s pretty clearly true. Although she’s just learning how to focus, she certainly has eyes for him! Big brother Finn (don’t these kiddos have the greatest names?!) is eighteen months old, so just a little guy himself. Already, he is so good at being gentle and kind to his new baby sister. Welcome to Boston, Baby Marlowe. I hope you and your family will be feeling right at home soon. We’re glad to have you!

Welcome Baby Maya! (Elena’s a big sister!)

You may remember the adorable Elena from my maternity session with her mama (and papa, too)! Well, new baby sister Maya has arrived! She’s a sweet little peanut (actually, not so little–almost nine pounds at birth), with a full head of beautiful spike-y downy baby hair. Maya curled up nice and cozy, making cute little baby noises as we took photos of all her tiny bits–toes, fingers, eyelashes, and lips. Already, when I saw here again for a viewing yesterday, she’s changed SO much. The newborn part disappears WAY TOO FAST! (I’m so lucky that I get to meet these little people during those first couple of weeks to keep on getting my newborn fix!)

When Maya woke up, she pushed her little head in the air with a strength far beyond her tender age–making one of my favorite pics from the session. As she got dressed, Maya even showed us a smile or two! She and her big sister Elena received matching red dresses, so we used them–along with the neighbors’ fantastic flower garden–to capture some new-sibling love. Welcome to the world, sweet baby! And congrats to big sis, and the whole family!

Waiting for baby: Big sister Elena steals the show!

Elena, her mama, and her papa are waiting for a new baby this fall. Our plan was a maternity session for mama, with big sis and proud papa there to help out. But it didn’t take long for the beautiful and spirited Elena to steal the show. She’s a darling; even her little pout is lovely (perhaps her three-year-old energy reminded me of another little girl I know?!). Elena’s incredibly excited for the arrival of her new baby, as is the whole family. The Arnold Arboretum in Jamaica Plain provided a beautiful summer backdrop for our session. I have so many favorites from their session… and so here are the top dozen! Best of all, I know I’ll be seeing this beautiful family again soon–for a newborn session when their little sweetie arrives!
